Prize giving
Prizes are awarded annually in a number of categories, and are presented on the Sunday afternoon at the hotel.

At the end of Prize-giving, Pete Bish announced that this was the last Icicle Balloon Meet run by the Dante Balloon Group.

The Elcot Park Hotel Prize Main Flying Task. 6-figure Grid Reference adding up to 43, tie-break on the most easterly/westerly/northerly/southerly (decide on the day) landing. The Newbury Building Society Shield (Keep for 1 year). Plus a meal for 2 people in the Elcot Park Hotel Mike Woodcock in G-LORY, Glory. He was one of only two balloons to fly out of the field. He didn’t land at a GR adding to 43, but was the only balloon to do two flights!!
Gemini Trophy Oldest balloon to fly out of the Field. Wooden Balloon Trophy (Keep for 1 year). Plus small hand carved wooden balloon to keep. Plus a bottle of wine Mike Woodcock in G-LORY, registered 28/11/78
    Bottle of wine Runner up, Peter Gooch with G-BHHN, Brian. Registered 29/11/79. 35 years to the day since its first flight

Andy Collett with G-CILO. This was his first inflation of the balloon since taking delivery from Cameron.
Vic Trimble Trophy Longest Flight from Icicle. Trophy (Keep for 1 year)

Richard Parry with G-CHEL. He landed alongside G-LORY, but his single flight was longer, as he didn’t do an intermediate landing.
Norman Betts Award Newest Pilot at Icicle Norman Betts Shield (Keep for 1 year).

Peter Gregory with G-SESL, checked out Sept ’14, but licence issued on 24/12/14, his 17th birthday. Other registered pilots who gained their licences last year were Ben Sanger-Davies May ’14, Josh Taylor June ’14 and Caitlin Rich Sept ’14.
Marsh Benham Trophy For Services to ballooning in the Newbury area. Silver Rosebowl Awarded to David Liddiard, in recognition of his hosting of the first 20 years of Icicle at Marsh Benham, and his great contribution to ballooning in the Newbury and Hungerford area over the last 43 years.
