The Elcot Park Hotel Prize | Main Flying Task – Grid Reference adding up to 37, minimum distance 4 km, tie-break on the most westerly landing. | The Newbury Building Society Shield (Keep for 1 year). Plus a meal for 2 people in the Elcot Park Hotel | Dave Baker with G-GBBT, who landed at the Cadbury’s Chocolate Factory at Keynsham near Bristol, 60km. This was not actually the most westerly landing adding to 37, but we couldn’t award both the distance prize and this one to the same pilot, so Committee’s discretion applied. |
Gemini Trophy | Oldest balloon to fly out of the Field. | Wooden Balloon Trophy (Keep for 1 year). Plus small hand carved wooden balloon to keep. Plus a pair of flying gloves. First Runner up: bottle of champagne |
Peter James with G-BEXZ (1977) on Saturday. Runners up: Peter Smart on Sunday with G-AXMD, Nimble, (1969); and Tony Brown with G-BDSE Concorde (1976) on Sunday. Neither was able to fly out of the field because they don’t have C of A. |
